053 – An Introduction to POLST

POLST stands for Practitioners Order for Life Sustaining Treatment.  It is a physician’s order that goes a long way to making sure that your loved one’s wishes are honored when critical care is needed.  This form can be especially effective when emergency medical personnel are involved.  It compliments and supports a living will or advanced directive for health care and is something anyone caring for an elderly loved one should know about.  I hope it helps you.

Thanks for listening!
